Creative Dance Techniques (ages 4-6): This class teaches awareness of the body and fundamentals of dance technique through dance games, improvisation, choreography, and dance-making. Students learn appropriate warm up exercises, elements of contemporary dance technique and ballet vocabulary, movement patterns, and begin to develop skills to express their ideas and emotions through movement. The last class of the session includes an informal presentation of the class dance that was developed over the session.

Creative Modern Techniques (ages 7-12): An introduction to Modern dance for early adolescents, this class will include floor work, combinations across the floor, and performance skills. By watching and integrating movement into their own bodies, student will be encouraged to develop their own, unqiue style.

Adult Modern Dance (all levels, ages 14 & up): This modern technique class is a beginning-intermediate level class working towards a grounded and direct approach to movement, infused with somatic principles and experiential improvisations. Class work explores sensation, instinct, and the inherent musical phrasing inside the body as well as the opportunity to learn basic movement patterns and simple phrase work.

Contemporary Modern Dance (all ages with previous experience): This morning technique class is an intermediate/advanced highly physical class working towards a grounded and direct approach to movement, infused with somatic principles and experiential improvisations. We will focus on the volume and weight inside the body and its relationship to the floor, bring awareness to the feet, spine, and pelvic floor, encourage the feeling of release in the limbs, and articulate falling and suspending off-center. Class work explores sensation, instinct, and the inherent musical phrasing inside the body.

Contemporary Lab Series (intermediate/advanced levels): Contemporary movement practices for the community! This is a movement explorations class with a different teacher each week from the local and international field of performance studies and dance. An offering more than a "teaching" — students will be in exploration mode with teachers based on the artists' most potent and current compositional and performative research. Be ready for different genres of dance including hip hop, improvisation, somatics and contemporary modern.

Advanced Improvisation (previous experience recommended): A two hour period of improvisational composition exploring a discipline of specifically refined listening. A listening which calls for an emerging form of physical poetry.
