BEG/INT ADULT MODERN (all levels, ages 14 & up) MONDAYS ONGOING, 6:30-8PM LOCATION: STUDIO4 at 25 Main St, 4th floor Northampton, MA This modern technique class is a beginning-intermediate level class working towards a grounded and direct approach to movement, infused with somatic principles and experiential improvisations. Class work explores sensation, instinct, and the inherent musical phrasing inside the body as well as the opportunity to learn basic movement patterns and simple phrase work. THURSDAYS, 7-9PM, Dates TBD LOCATION: STUDIO4 at 25 Main St, 4th floor Northampton, MA Action Theater™ training creates a structured landscape of exercises and scores from which to launch embodied physical improvisations. By empowering embodied expression, exercises naturally feed new creative explorations. With each exercise tailored to the varied working groups, students from beginner to advanced can find new pathways to improvisational glory. Using this rich embodied form I seek to inspire students to new levels of creative ease and expression in every class. FRIDAYS, 10AM-12PM LOCATION: 33 Hawley St Northampton, MA This morning technique class is an intermediate/advanced highly physical class working towards a grounded and direct approach to movement, infused with somatic principles and experiential improvisations. We will focus on the volume and weight inside the body and its relationship to the floor, bring awareness to the feet, spine, and pelvic floor, encourage the feeling of release in the limbs, and articulate falling and suspending off-center. Contemporary movement practices for the community! This is a movement explorations class with a different teacher each week from the local and international field of performance studies and dance. An offering more than a "teaching" — students will be in exploration mode with teachers based on the artists' most potent and current compositional and performative research.
