Position Title: Administrative Assistant - Youth Programs & Social Media
Organization: School for Contemporary Dance and Thought
Location: Northampton, MA (Hybrid - Remote with regular local/on-site tasks)
Schedule: Part-time, 10–12 hours per week (flexible hours with periodic weekend/evening events)
Pay: $17.00 – $20.00 per hour, depending on experience

About the Organization

The School for Contemporary Dance and Thought (SCDT) is an innovative school and performing arts center based in Northampton, MA. We are dedicated to advancing experimental performance and expanding access to dance as a creative, empowering practice. Through performances, artist talks, classes, workshops, and residencies, we support students and independent artists of all ages and career stages, serving as a vibrant creative hub for the Pioneer Valley.

Position Summary
SCDT is seeking a organized and creative Administrative Assistant to support our day-to-day operations, focusing primarily on Youth Program coordination and Social Media Management. This is a hybrid role (approx. 10-12 hours/week) reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with our small admin team. It is ideal for someone who loves contemporary performance, enjoys connecting with families and artists, and possesses strong organizational and digital communication skills. We value community connection alongside practical skill. If you are passionate about the work and bring a strong background, please don't hesitate to apply even if you don't match every qualification - we’re happy to help you grow into the role!

Key Responsibilities
Youth Program Coordination (~5–6 hrs/week):
  • Manage inquiries, registrations, and student contact lists.
  • Maintain regular communication with teaching faculty and student families (attendance, updates, reminders).
  • Assist with tuition tracking and basic administrative upkeep.
  • Support youth program growth through light online and local outreach.
Social Media & Content Support (~5–6 hrs/week):
  • Create and schedule engaging posts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook) using brand-consistent visuals and copy.
  • Film occasional short video clips during live rehearsals, classes, or events for social reels/stories.
  • Maintain online event listings, community arts calendars, and resource boards.
  • Track basic monthly engagement analytics.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Administrative Experience: 1+ years in an admin, coordination, or customer-facing role. Experience in a dance or arts non-profit context is a strong plus.
  • Social Media & Tech: Experience managing social media for a brand, club, or professional project. Proficient with Meta Business Suite, Canva, Instagram/CapCut video editing, and standard productivity tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Excel/Word).
  • Communication: Strong, detail-oriented written communication skills that match an artistic yet professional brand tone. Warm and approachable when speaking with parents and students.
  • Self-Starter & Reliable: Ability to manage your time independently across short weekly hours, meet deadlines, and collaborate in a small team setting.
  • Location & Mobility: Based locally in/near Northampton with reliable transportation for periodic on-site needs (filming, postering, and event support).
  • Dance Background (Preferred): Familiarity with modern/experimental dance terminology and local Pioneer Valley arts networks is helpful, but not required.
Benefits
  • Flexibility: Mostly remote work with flexible scheduling.
  • Arts Access: Free access to SCDT classes, workshops, and performance tickets.
  • Community Impact: Play a direct role in supporting independent artists and local youth arts education.
How to Apply: Please send a brief cover letter, with resume and/or portfolio to Bill Kules ([email protected]) with the subject line "Administrative Assistant Application." For best consideration, apply by Sunday, August 16.

SCDT is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applicants from all backgrounds to apply..
