FULL FESTIVAL SCHEDULE
MONDAY AUGUST 11th
10:00AM- 11:30AM TUNING with Jen Polins
The Tuning Scores were created by dance-maker Lisa Nelson who has been “exploring the role of the senses in the performance and observation of movement since the ’70s” Tuning is a collection of practices that research real time editing, composition and performance that are a performance in themselves. Tuning offers tools and frameworks for communication and a model of collaboration that is constructed by the players in the act of doing. These explorations give insight into performance and dance-making processes, cross disciplinary lines, and invite people of all ages and abilities to participate in the questions they provoke.
TUESDAY, AUGUST 12
10:00AM- 11:30AM CLASS PRACTICE with Ellie Goudie-Averill
Class is practice, individual and collective. Class is a chance to come together in an investigation of presence and anatomical organization. We will breathe in and out of initial somatic floor work, warming from proximal to distal, and make use of momentum and form through crossings, scores, and sequences.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 13
10:00AM- 11:30AM PLAYING WITH OBJECTS: with Mary Beth Brooker
Performance Workshop: Playing with Objects
Playing with objects of different qualities, we’ll explore simple familiar tasks as well as unexpected movement arising from those tasks. We’ll consider how objects can extend and expand the reach of our bodies, as well as offer opportunities for subtly and nuance. We’ll play with how relating with objects offers possibilities for relating with performance partners. All are welcome. Objects will be provided.
Mary Beth Brooker is a theater artist in the Valley and is currently in collaboration on a full-length play to be performed at the Workroom in June 2026.
