ARTIFACTS OF THE EPHEMERAL
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21 THROUGH FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22
Hours open to public:
Thursday 8pm-12am
Friday 8am-9pm
STUDIO4, 25 MAIN ST, NORTHAMPTON MA
ARTIFACTS OF THE EPHEMERAL is a 24 hour solo durational performance by artist Katherine Adler. They will be responding to 24 personal meditations (embodying through movement and drawn imagery) and making public their inner experience.
Every hour is preset with a specific meditation and soundtrack to enhance the tone of the space. Audiences are invited into the School for Contemporary Dance for 18 of the 24 hours to passively observe the process as performance. This is an opportunity for the artist to shed the layers and filters applied to their communication when confined to linguistic language and instead engage with space in a more intimately present way. The goal is to invite the audience to witness the artist's truest form of articulation without the structure of narrative. Viewers are encouraged to remain in the space for at least 20 minutes but can stay or return for as long as the space is open.
This project is made possible through a grant from the Northampton Arts Council. Past iterations of the work have been supported by Eggtooth Productions and the Mass Cultural Council.
