ABOUT Bates Dance Festival Masterclass / Info Session:

This BDF Master Class/Info Session is aimed at students curious to know more about Bates Dance Festival's training programs, which will celebrate their 40th anniversary this summer, with in person programming from June 16- Aug 7.

Join Alexandra James, BDF's Director of Training Programs, to dance and learn about BDF's training and performance opportunities for the 2022 season!

Class will culminate with conversation about the application process, scholarship & internship opportunities, and a discussion about BDF's model for training across multiple disciplines, based around rigor, collaboration and deep commitment to equity.

All students who participate will receive a $100 discount on BDF tuition.

ABOUT Alexandra James:

Alexandra James is a Southern Maine native, maker, mover and mother.  As an independent artist, she's engaged with improvisation and interdisciplinary investigation, the interrogation of pedagogy and craft, seeking liberation through the integrity of embodied knowledge and the sharing of practice.

In addition to her role at Bates Dance Festival, Alexandra is a professor of Dance at Bates & Colby College. Her work has been presented in Chicago, New York and South Africa, with a teaching practice that carries her nationally. She earned her BFA from the Dance Center of Columbia College Chicago in 2009.
