SARAH LASS
SCDT SEASON ARTIST IN RESIDENCE SPRING 2020 Sarah Lass is a Colorado-raised, Massachusetts-based dancer, choreographer, scholar, and educator. Her research springs from her devoted practice of dance improvisation in conversation with a wide range of disciplines including neurophysiology, philosophy, architecture, ecology, design, feminist studies, and the visual arts as a means of investigating the dynamics between perception and world-making/destroying/remaking. Lass is currently a Research Associate with the Smith College Department of Dance, Artist in Residence at the School for Contemporary Dance and Thought, and a Lecturer in Dance at Keene State College, having previously taught courses at Smith College, Hampshire College, Marlboro College, and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. As a performer, Lass has worked most recently with the Bebe Miller Company, Angie Hauser, Chris Aiken, Xan Burley, and Barbie Diewald. Her choreography has been presented by the School for Contemporary Dance and Thought, Marlboro College, Smith College, Triskelion Arts, 10forward, and other venues. Lass graduated from Smith College with an MFA in Dance in 2018. |
