VANESSA ANSPAUGH
Vanessa Anspaugh is a NYC based choreographer, performer and teacher. Currently she is residing between both Northampton and New York making her home in two places. Many of the questions that surround her work address the myriad relationships that exist in collections of groups and individuals, touching on tropes such as directorship, authorship, collaboration, collectivity, domination, and love. Her work has been presented by Danspace Project, Dance Theater Workshop, New York Live Arts, The River to River Festival, BAX, The Sculpture Center, The Hessel Museum of Art, AUNTS, Movement Research, Catch Series, The Kitchen, among other venus. She has had the great fortune to be a BAX Space Grant recipient as well as a Fresh Tracks and STUDIO SERIES artist at DTW. In 2013/14 Anspaugh was a MacDowell Colony Fellow as well as a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council “Extended Life” Artist in Residence. Anspaugh has also served on curatorial teams such The Movement Research Festival among others. She has also taught dance at Bard, Smith and Mount Holyoke Colleges as well as to children in NYC public schools. As a performer A few of the artists Vanessa has performed for are, Aretha Aoki, Juliette Mapp, Taylor Mac, Robbinschilds, Faye Driscoll, and Jen Rosenblit. Anspaugh attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH where she received a BA in Buddhist Studies and Fine Art, and Smith College where she received her MFA in Choreography and Performance. |
