CONTEMPORARY BALLET FOR TEENS (ages 12-18)
Mondays, 4:00-5:00pm Eastern Time

Students will be invited into contemporary approaches to ballet techniques that include kindness, rigor, coordination, curiosity, and specificity.  Together, we will deepen physical exploration and expand knowledge of movement vocabulary.  In these classes, dancers will learn and increase familiarity with ballet terminology, and apply anatomical information for maximized freedom within form, function, and joy.

Students should wear clothes they feel comfortable moving in, perhaps bring an extra layer for warming up. socks, ballet slippers, barefoot are all optional. Long hair should be secured out of one's face for safety.

CREATIVE MOVEMENT (ages 5-7)

Tuesdays, 4-4:45pm Eastern Time, with Kate Martel

Creative Dance-Making will include creative dance games, stretches and puzzles as a warm-up for our bodies and minds.

We will then work on a variety of time, space, and rhythm concepts in a fun and memorable way and build a final performance together using what we've learned, along with our collective and individual imaginations.

TEEN / ADULT BALLET

Experiential and somatic approach to Ballet.
Open to all levels who want to train together in a supportive environment. This program is for anyone who loves ballet, especially the people whom ballet has left out. Reimagine the standard components of a ballet class and prioritize joy, generosity, play, mutual admiration, and virtuosity.

WEIRD VILLAGE: THEATERMAKING (ages 9-12)
Wednesdays, 4:30-6:00p Eastern Time, with Karinne Keithley Syers

This ongoing class uses collaborative, playful game structures to explore the elements of theater creation from as many angles as possible, including story, sound, song, image, object, voice and physicality. We will let curiosity lead us onward. We will practice deep listening – to ourselves, the space, and to each other – learning to find our place in a collaborative ensemble. Each session culminates in a collaboratively devised performance to share.

YOUTH DANCE MAKING & COMPOSITION (ages 8-12)
Thursdays, 4-5pm Eastern Time, With Kate Martel and Jen Polins

MAKING THINGS / MAKING MORE THINGS
This movement class consists of a Modern Dance warm up followed by a choreography lab. During our choreography lab, we will focus on using objects and costumes as duet partners and source material. We will experiment with various choreographic methodologies, both uncovering themes through physical research and allowing predetermined concepts to drive choreographic inquiry. This class is for all levels of experience.

YOUTH HIP HOP (ages 5-8)
Saturdays, 10-10:45am Eastern Time, with Angelica "Jelly" Polk

This is a high energy class for kids looking to groove and keep rhythm on the latest hip-hop dance styles.
